FAQ

Okay – what the heck is a "gourmet recreational cooking school"?

Where do we begin!

Primarily, we are a school where students sign up for one time only cooking classes – an enjoyable afternoon or evening spent learning and of course – eating! We also have some series of classes for those who’d like a more in depth approach.

We also have some wonderful evenings on our schedule for couples, foodies and lovers of wine. Monthly Food & Wine Dinners, Dinner & a Date every Friday night – it’s not exactly a cooking class but rather a delicious and informative emersion into the world of cuisine & wine, right before your very eyes. Plus – no tax or tip is required. We have often been told it beats going to any restaurant in town!

In addition, we also have a wonderful selection of boutique wines and lovely food related retail items for sale in our small shopping area.

Plus, we are a fantastic facility to host private parties, dinners, corporate groups and much more. Our motto is “If you can dream it, we can do it” – so don’t hesitate to ask how we can transform our space to fit your needs.

Oh and by the way, we sell cupcakes!!

What can I expect during a typical class?

Most classes last approximately 2.5 – 3.5 hours. Classes will either be hands-on or demonstration style, and will be noted as such in the class calendar.  For more information about these two teaching methods and how our classes are structured, please see the class information section.

In most classes, you can expect to do a generous amount of food tasting. Some classes include a full meal and will be noted as such. Food prepared in our school will not leave the premises unless otherwise stated.

Many of our classes include wine, beer & other cocktails that can be enjoyed in tasting portions or by the glass, depending on the class. The cost of these drinks is included in the price of the class unless otherwise noted.

Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start time of your class in order to check in and enjoy some pre-class refreshments! As we will be busy preparing the school for your class, please try not to arrive any earlier, thanks!

What is your cancellation policy for classes?

In order to receive a full refund of the purchase price of a class, cancellations must be made 7 business days prior to the class. Cancellations made 72 hrs (three business days) prior to the actual class will receive a full refund in the form of store credit only. Within 72 hours there will be no refunds of any kind. However, you may send someone in your place provided that you call and make arrangements to do so with our staff.

If you are signed up for a series of classes or for our professional programs, please note that no refunds will be given after the series has begun, regardless of circumstance because space is limited in these series.

The class that I want to take is full! Can I be placed on a waiting list?

If you’d like to be placed on the waiting list for a full class, please call (760) 777-1161 and we will place you on the list. If space becomes available we will notify waiting list names in the order they were placed on the list.

I missed out on a class that I’d really like to take. Will you be offering it again?

Yes, most of our popular classes will make a repeat performance on our schedule at some point. If you missed a class and would like to be notified when it is offered again, please email or call us at (760) 777-1161.

I have a gift certificate!

Gift certificates that have been donated for charity are redeemable for the purchase of classes only please.
